Sawubona, and welcome to my PERSONAL blog about hacking "THE SYSTEM"!
I'm from the ghetto outskirts of Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa (one of three capitals we have, actually), and I came up with the name "Banelihackpacker" as a fusion of my name (Banelisiwe) and a term I'm happy to say I coined - "hackpacker".
So, as a native black South African Millennial, operating under the "pseudo" alias, Banelihackpacker, I'm all about breaking free from THE ESTABLISHMENT's pre-determined confines and glass-ceiling, systemically and cynically imposed on a guy like me.
I seek to achieve this through "hackpacking", which is essentially hacking out a traveller's life as a backpacker, while earning a living remotely to sustain those travels… via the more honourable definition of what a hacker is.
WordWeb Dictionary definition for "hacker":
Noun: hacker ha-ku(r)
1. Someone who tries to obtain unauthorised access to a
computer, network or data
2. A skilled programmer or computing expert
"true hackers subscribe to a code of ethics and look down upon crackers"
3. One who works hard at boring tasks
4. Someone who plays golf poorly
D'you reckon I'd publically admit to being the other type of hacker, if I was?
So basically, as Banelihackpacker, I'll be living out my life gaming THE SYSTEM back. I'm under no illusions about the fact that I'll be effectively punching well above my weight-division, considering where THE SYSTEM was connivingly designed to keep someone of my demographic(s).
Follow the unfolding, indicatively immensely challenging Banelihackpacker odyssey, documented on this blog and on my YouTube channel.
At times getting highly technical, I'll also be featuring content that highlights how other people I cross paths with effectively carry out "SYSTEM hacks" of their own.
More about Me
I'm a Full-Stack Web Developer & Internet Entrepreneur who's never really had an 8-4 job (9-5 in some countries). I say "not really," because I once worked as a waitron over the extended holiday period between completing high school in October 2006 and starting varsity in February 2007…
For an introvert, who is perhaps a recluse of the worst kind as well, I quite enjoy meeting new people from all over the world and, for some reason I have absolutely no problem making new friends, wherever it is the road has taken me so far!
I've not seen even a tiny fraction of the many places in this beautiful world I'd still love to visit and, basically, that journey as it unfolds is also what this blog is all about.
Izinit this is a weird, obscure "fact" for one to share about themselves?: I have a list of my top three favourite trees, which in no particular order, are palms, weeping willows and pines…
… back to some of the more "regular" facts about me…
I don't drink alcohol, and so naturally I have what might widely be considered to be a boring disaster of a complement of what constitutes "fun". Keep in mind though, that BORING is not equal to BORED! So I'm all about the cultural experiences to complement some adrenalin-inducing adventures, sightseeing, enjoying good music, getting lost in an awesome book, watching and playing sports, watching movies and series, etc…
I absolutely love sports, particularly football (when it's played as beautifully as Ronaldinho Gaucho did), and cricket as well. I wish I would have taken football more seriously, growing up, because when I did enjoy some on-pitch action, I moulded my "game" in the style of Ronaldinho, so much so that I was nicknamed exactly that!
Orlando Pirates Football Club is the beat of my heart!
Music is another great passion of mine and I have what has been described to be a "complex" taste in music!
Finally, and perhaps needless to explicitly say, travel is another one of my life's biggest passions…
An easy day at the beach, punctuated by a range of stimulating beachside activities, is one which I could never get tired of and one which I could live out over and over again, for the rest of my life! I guess that's why my top three favourite destinations I've visited so far are:
1. Seychelles
2. Phuket Island, Thailand
3. Mauritius
As of the writing of this, I've also been to Brazil and Egypt, having gone on to actually LIVE in Phuket, Thailand for 15 months…
I'd one day love to permanently settle in the Seychelles, living in a beach-front house that has palms dotting the white sandy beachfront; weeping willows hugging some kind of pond in the backyard; and pines that sing a beautiful, bedtime lullaby-refrain in the language of the wind that blows through them, located right outside my bedroom window(s)!
I'm a pluviophile and eleutheromaniac as well, and ultimately living in the Seychelles would constitute pulling-off the ULTIMATE SYSTEM HACK for me!
